What's Playing
Every feature, in focus.
From your personal watchlist to cinema alerts and iCloud sync: everything Marquee can do, laid out like a programme.
The Core
Your movies, always at hand
A configurable poster grid across three tabs: Released, Coming Soon, and Watched. Long-press any card for quick actions: mark watched, hide, delete, or save the poster. A dice button picks a random film when you can't decide.
Find any film, instantly
Search the full TMDB database. Record who recommended it and how: person, podcast, newsletter, social, or other. Never forget a recommendation again.
On Screen
Full picture, every time
Poster, ratings (IMDb + TMDB), runtime, genres, synopsis, streaming providers, personal notes, recommendation history, and deep-link review buttons, all in one scroll.
Liked, meh, or didn't land
After marking a movie watched, rate it in one tap: Liked, Meh, or Disliked. No stars, no scores. Just your honest take, stored privately on your device and synced via iCloud.
What's showing near you
Discover what's currently playing in your selected country. Tap any film to open a full detail view and add it to your watchlist or mark it as watched.
Never miss an opening night
Get a local notification when a watchlisted movie hits cinemas in your country. Choose your lead time: 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, or 2 weeks out.
Smart Details
Know what's generating heat
Coming Soon films show a live buzz signal (High Buzz or Rising) derived from TMDB popularity and Trakt activity. No badge means the signal is low.
Cinema or stream it?
A quick verdict derived from RT, Metacritic, and genre: See It in Cinemas, Worth Seeing, or Stream It. Only shown when critic data is available. No guesswork.
Stay unspoiled
Enable Spoiler Protection to hide the synopsis and ratings for any unwatched film. Tap once to reveal it within the session. It closes again on the next visit.
Rate it while it's fresh
A nudge arrives 24 hours after you mark a film watched, but only if you haven't rated it yet. Tap the notification to jump straight to the rating. Toggle it off in Settings.
Know when it hits streaming
Confirmed digital release dates appear in movie detail. Within 30 days, a gold countdown shows exactly how many days to wait. Falls back to a 45-day estimate from theatrical release.
What to expect going in
Content certification (PG-13, 15, R, etc.) is shown right in the title block. Tap the Parental Guide button for full content detail, sourced directly from IMDb.
Know the moment it's streamable
Opt in to get a notification at noon on the confirmed digital release date: "Now available to rent or buy." Turn it on in Settings → Notifications → Digital Release Alerts.
Connections
Credit where it's due
Store who recommended each film and how: person, social, podcast, newsletter, or other. Shown on the movie card and searchable from the watchlist. Every recommendation has a source.
Open in the app you trust
Tap through to the exact movie on IMDb, Letterboxd, or Trakt. Opens in their native app if installed, web otherwise. Each link can be individually toggled in Settings.
Share
Save from anywhere
Add Marquee to your iOS share sheet. Save a movie from Safari, IMDb, Letterboxd, or any app that shares a URL. No switching apps, no copy-pasting.
Recommend to anyone
Add your name and a short message, then share a deep link. Recipients with Marquee installed land directly in the add-movie flow with your name and note pre-filled.
High-res poster, yours
Downloads the original TMDB poster (up to 2000 px) directly to your Photos library. No read access required. Available from the detail nav or the long-press menu.
Your Library

Total films watched, runtime clocked, genre breakdown, watch streaks, top recommenders, and a 12-month bar chart. All local, all automatic, updated in real time.
Follow the filmmakers you love
Save directors and cast from any movie's detail page. Tap any name to revisit their bio, upcoming projects, and full filmography. Your own curated list of people worth watching.
